Birthday boy...

So, this is the birthday boy! I thought I'd turn the weekend photo shoot into a weeks worth of entries because I'm lazy:)

I was trying out my new reflector in the first one (the one I bought because we're doing a wedding next weekend!) and then the rest of the shots were just candids as Beckett enjoyed his day.


He spent a good deal of time on Grandma's lap and I was able to catch a number of amazing shots! This one is my favorite, although it was soo hard to pick!



Now, the hat was a funny set of photos. He really enjoyed having the hat on and just giggled and laughed as we took it off and put it back on over and over and over!

I think I shot over 300 images that day. Of that about 218 made it thru the first cuts. Then about 50 made it to the final proof set. That doesnt make those other 168 images any less special! I go back periodically and browse thru them and laugh all over again at how cute he is!

Bubbles are fun...

This weekend during the birthday party we hauled out the bubbles! I mean, heck, it was 78 degrees and beautiful - how could you not have bubbles!!!

Kaden is nearly 3 and a huge bubble fan, although he doesn't understand that you need to keep the bubble juice in the pan for it to work right! Either that or he's your typical 3 year old looking to make a mess of anything he touches! Yea, that's probably more like it.

He just looks so serious in that last picture! I love it!

Happy First Birthday Beckett!

My nephew (and Mark's Godson) turned 1 this past week and we spent the weekend with them celebrating the milestone. He'd just woken up from a nap and had some lunch so he wasn't too thrilled with the cake. We waited patiently while he just stared at us and gingerly touched the cake. It took some prodding and ultimatley we fed him strawberries from the cake to get him to play!

I know you're probaby tired of my dog but she's so darn cute! She's a definite comfort seeker. In a room that has basically a computer desk, book shelf, and basket of blankets, she found the softest most comfortable place:)

Water...

In light of Spring finally arriving I thought I'd blog on something refreshing - Water! Mark and I both have an obsession with photographing water - me more so than him but whatever. I just love the way you can capture the movement of the H2o as it flows over rocks and other stationary object. My first real experience with timed exposure of water was at Ohiopyle in PA. I had an old manual Minolta that I thought was sooo cool (you know, one of those old archaic film thingamajiggys..:) ). It was a mistake for the most part but that's all it took for my obsession to be born.
Now, we make specific trips on cloudy days to find water under treed canopies (because running water cannot be photographed in bright sunlight without washing out the picture - this is one of the few times when lower light is actually appreciated).
Fortunatley for us, there are lots of little cascades and running water just minutes from our house and even better stuff a few hours away. I can only imagine how silly we look with our camera on a huge tripod in the middle of a creek snapping way. Oh well, it's worth it:)
The images in the post are all from the same trip to Shenandoah. Now I just wish i knew the name of the hike:)
